Why you need to use RO ice cubes when pouring ready mix concrete?
Ice is used in ready-mix concrete to lower its temperature, most commonly in hot regions where the ready-mix concrete temperature surpasses 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
It is critical that the concrete has time to acquire strength and durability during this procedure.
As a result, utilising ice slows down the cement hydration process, which is the heat created during concrete curing.
The optimum temperature that must be maintained when concrete cures is between 10 and 21 degrees Celsius for the minimum curing period. The consequences of not maintaining this temperature throughout the curing process are loss of strength, greater cracking, a rapid set, and an increase in water demand.
This procedure does not employ just any ice; cubes of ice have a tendency to stay together and clump into blocks, thus flake ice is needed.
Flake ice is utilised because it does not cling together and the particles are tiny enough to melt uniformly in the concrete in less time than other types of ice.
You may have used chilled mixing water in ready-mix concrete, and ice is utilised in the same way while pouring ready-mix concrete. However, because of the amount of heat required to melt the ice, utilising ice might have a greater influence on the temperature than using cold water.
To minimise damage to the concrete and assure its efficacy, those who use ice in ready mix concrete should ensure that all of the ice has melted before pouring; however, the ice should not melt before being introduced to the cement mixer.
