Stainless Steel Bellows

Bhastrik is promoted by pioneers with 35 years of hands-on experience in the field of manufacturing stainless steel bellows (Edge welded & Convoluted) and exotic metal bellows.

The products manufactured conform to EJMA (Expansion Joint Manufacturer’s Association) Standards.

They manufacture bellows in all austenitic stainless steel, exotic metals like Haste alloy, Inconel and in non-ferrous materials like Brass, Cupronickels, Copper and Phosphor-bronze. Metal Bellows offer elegant solutions for most piping design problems involving thermal expansion, volume compensation, vibration isolation, etc. Bellows are manufactured by Hydro-forming operation or by expanding mandrel forming and rubber or elastomer forming processes.

CONVOLUTED BELLOWS

Convoluted Bellows are thin-walled cylindrical components. Their surface area features a corrugated structure which is perpendicular to the cylinder axis. Because of this corrugated structure the bellows are highly flexible during axial, lateral and/or angular.

They are used in Valve sealing, Pipe line construction, Vibration absorbers, Exhaust systems etc.

BHASTRIK manufacture convoluted bellows in stainless steel and exotic metals including Haste alloy C-276, Inconel 600, 625 and 718, of sizes ranging from 10 mm dia up to 600 mm.

Also used are metals like brass, Cupronickels, copper and phosphor-bronze in sheet thickness from 0.15 mm and upwards either seam welded or seamless. The sizes vary from minimum of 18 mm I.D. to a maximum of 75 mm O.D

TOROIDAL BELLOWS

The expertise gained by Bhastrik Mechanical Labs has led to the development of Toroidal and many odd shaped speciality bellows.

EDGE WELDED BELLOWS

The Edge Welded (Diaphragm) bellows consists of two rings. These rings are edge welded together inside and outside. They guarantee very high flexibility and are used in measuring & control devices, mechanical seals for pumps, motors etc.

BHASTRIK possess the capability to manufacture NESTING RIPPLE type edge welded bellows in stainless steel AM350 and exotic metals including Hastealloy C-276 and Inconel 600, 625 or 718, in sizes ranging from minimum of 12 mm I.D. to 175 mm O.D.

The precision-formed diaphragms are edge welded by micro plasma or laser welding using special fixtures to prevent uneven stress build up. The thickness of diaphragms varies between 0.127mm and upward 0.30mm.

ALLIED COMPONENTS

Our relentless endeavour and focus to develop special components for our customers led us to develop products like pressed, deep drawn components, thin-walled fabrication for Cryo vessels, hoses for vacuum, nuclear and aerospace applications.

To make things hassle free for our customers we undertake contract manufacturing run by a consortium of technically sound entrepreneurs who value challenging projects.

EXHAUST PIPING

Running engines cause self-vibration. To compensate for those movements and temperature differences resulting in thermal expansion, bellows are used to connect the exhaust gas pipes to the funnel.

MEMBRANE COMPENSATORS

Membrane Compensators are used for the absorption of changes in volume due to temperature difference (Insulation Oil in High-Voltage)

Stainless Steel Diaphragms are pressed with a Special profile. They are welded together on their exterior diameter.

SERVICES

BHASTRIK possess the capability to join different metals by welding. Welding can be done on a spectrum of metals of varying cross-sectional thicknesses. Laser, Micro Plasma & Micro TIG on special purpose machines in soundness the following combination of metals could be welded.

Similar metals – S.S. to S.S. – from thickness of 0.10 mm onwards. Dissimilar metals – S.S. to M.S., S.S. to CuNi, S.S. to Hastealloy, S.S. to Monel, Etc. Heat resistant metals – Inconel 600, 625, 718, 800, Hastealloy C22, C276, A M 350 & Titanium Metal & Maraging steel. Non-ferrous metals – Phosphor Bronze, Copper and Brass.

The products manufactured by “BHASTRIK” are all validated in conformance with the technical specifications of the customer and also with EJMA (Latest Version).

It is a matter of pride that “BHASTRIK” follows AS 9100C verbatim and also is certified since 2012 in anticipation of Aerospace boom.

FACILITIES

Dye Penetrant Testing
The dye penetrant examination also called Liquid Penetrant examination is a widely applied and low-cost inspection method for the inspection of the weld seams, hair-line cracks, and pin holes. Inspection is carried out visually in red-white process.

Pneumatic Leak
Pneumatic leak test is carried out on the final assembly of bellows. Air under water at 1 bar inside pressure and a holding time of 1 minute to find out any leak in the bellows. For this test the bellows to be equipped with proper sealing.

Hydraulic Leak Test
Hydraulic leak test is carried out based on the customers’ requirements.

Helium Leak
The helium leak test to be carried out on bellows in special applications with very high-quality requirements in Vacuum engineering & nuclear engineering. We have a facility of Helium leak Mass spectrometer to find the leak @ the rate of 1 x 10-12 mbar. litres/Sec

Spring Rate Testing
The force to have the unit displacement of bellows is called as spring rate. The spring rate is critical and is used in Measuring & Control devices. For that we design according to customer needs and check the spring rate of the bellows for design verification.

Life Cycle Test
The fatigue life of the bellows is to withstand the given number of flexing cycles. For that the bellows is compressed and then expanded to complete one cycle. The life cycle test is conducted until the product fails. When testing is required our cycle test machine is available for design verification. Each bellows assembly should perform tightness test after cycle test as per standard.
