IIT-Madras in collaboration with Phoenix Medical Systems has launched this product. This wheelchair enables persons with disabilities to shift from sitting to standing position without any extremal support.
“It’s fully customizable while still being mass manufacturable which is one of the reasons it is so affordable at just Rs.15,000” assures Ms Sujatha Srinivasan, Head: TTK Centre for Rehabilitation Research & Device Development, IIT-Madras.
The wheel chair is suitable for outdoor use and on uneven terrains as well.
