TCP Limited set up its plant for the manufacture of “Sodium Hydrosulphite” (SHS), with technical knowhow from Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan, through the unique “Sodium Formate Route”, introduced for the first time in India. The plant is located at Karaikudi in the State of Tamilnadu (India). Currently the installed capacity of production is 14800 Metric Tonnes.
Sodium Hydrosulphite
“Sodium Hydrosulphite” has wide application in industries like Textiles, Paper, Pharmaceuticals, Ceramics and in the production of jaggery (which is an alternative to sugar used as sweetener) made out of sugarcane juice.
The Company also set up a plant for the manufacture of “Liquid Sulphur Dioxide”, as a captive plant, to meet inhouse requirement for the manufacture of “Sodium Hydrosulphite”, with technical know-how from M/s Garbato Implanti Chimici s.r.l. Milano, Italy. Subsequently, the Company put up two additional plants to augment supply for the production of “Sodium Hydrosulphite” and to meet external demand.
“Sodium Hydrosulphite” produced by the Company is being marketed throughout India through a wide network of agents & distributors. Besides, the Company is exporting regularly to more than ten countries notably U.S.A and Turkey with shipments made from Tuticorin seaport in Tamilnadu (India). Presently, for the international market, we are offering two packings: 100 kgs. and 50 kgs. steel drums Shipments are made on FCL basis in 20 feet containers.
“Liquid Sulphur Dioxide” is supplied directly to industrial consumers.
The Company, through R&D efforts, developed three byproducts namely Sodium Formate, Sodium Sulphite and Sodium Thiosulphate which are marketed throughout India. These products find application predominantly in paper and leather industries.
The company has, by its R&D efforts, successfully commissioned the Zinc Formaldehyde Sulphoxylate Plant out of the funds from its internal generation and has been marketing its new product under the brand name ‘Tangolin’. The licensed capacity of the Plant is 500 tonnes per annum.
