The manufacturing facilities are spread over 60 acres in the chemical complex of SIPCOT Industrial Estate, Cuddalore. Cuddalore is 20 KM South of Pondicherry, about 200 KM south of Chennai, India. The company began commercial production in March 1985 and is amongst the leading producers of Hydrofluoric Acid and its derivatives.

AlF3 is mainly used as a makeup ingredient in the molten electrolyte of the Aluminium reduction cell and in the electrolytic process for refining Aluminium.
