BEAD EMBROIDERY (CREWELS)
Bead Embroidery Needle is similar to Crewel/Embroidery needle and is used for bead embroidery.

BEADING
Beading needles are very fine with a narrow eye to enable them fit through the centre of beads and sequins along with a long shaft to thread and hold a number of beads at a time

BETWEENS (QUILTING)
Between needles are shorter than Sharps, with a small rounded eye and are used for making fine stitches on heavy fabrics, such as in tailoring, quilt making and other detailed handwork.

CHENILLE
Chenille needles are similar to tapestry needles with large, long eyes and a very sharp point to penetrate closely woven fabrics. Useful for ribbon embroidery and heavy embroidery.

COTTON DARNERS (SHORT DARNERS)
Short Darners are sometimes referred to as Cotton Darners. They are strong hand sewing needles with sharp points and long threading eyes and are commonly used for mending and darning using cotton and yarn.?

CREWELS (EMBROIDERY)
Crewel / Embroidery needles are identical to Sharps but have a longer eye to enable easier threading of multiple embroidery threads and thicker yarns. They are used for most embroidery work.

GLOVERS (LEATHER)
Glover’s Needles are heavy duty needles with a triangular point for sewing leather, suede, man-made suedes, canvas and other stiff materials. The triangulated blades on the taper of the point ensures that the leather is not torn but cleanly cut by the point of the needle.

HOUSEHOLD
An assorted pack of hand sewing needles for general everyday sewing needs.

KNITTERS NEEDLES
Knitters needles are used by knitters to sew pieces of work together. The larger needle in the pack, is ideal for sewing up chunky garments and the smaller size needle is ideal when sewing up finer knits.

LONG DARNERS
Long Darners needles with sharp points and large eyes have extra length making them suitable for mending with cotton and yarn. These hand sewing needles with their extra length make them an ideal tool for basting and layering of fabrics together, in particular in the craft of quilting.

SELF THREADING (CALYX)
Self-Threading or Calyx needles are much easier to thread than regular needles. The thread is pushed through a slot at the top of the needle, where it remains.

SHARPS
Sharps are needles used for general hand sewing; built with a sharp point, a round eye and are of medium length. They are the most commonly used hand sewing needles. These needles, also available in heavy sizes 14- 18, called carpet needles are used on rugs and carpets.

SHORT DARNERS
Short Darners are strong sewing needles with sharp points and long eyes and are commonly used for mending and darning using cotton and yarn. They are similar to crewels but much longer.

STRAWS (MILLINERS)
Best known for use in hand applique, the Straw needle has a narrow shank that glides easily through several layers of fabric. The Straw needle is also useful for basting and hand piecing.

DOUBLE EYED TAPESTRY
Double eyed tapestry needles have two eyes which allows working with strands of different colour floss or wool. Embroidering could also be done with similar colour floss through both eyes for a dense pattern. The needle could also be used as a standard single eye needle. The blunt point enables the needle to move smoothly between the weave of the canvas or fabric, separating them, to ensure there are no splits.

Sizes 14 -18 are known as Wool or Yarn Darners and are commonly used to sew knitted or crocheted pieces together.
